My Transfer Appeal Letter

Tuan/Puan,

Sekian, terima kasih.

Updated: 17 November 2012. I've decided to only include the Malay version of my letter because it has been heavily modified based on valuable comments from my readers & major help from a past student of mine. Thanks so much! The letter is definitely so much better now!

  2. You should have a title and state clearly what you want without beating around the bush with flowery language. These important people do not have a lot of time to dwell on what you say and to try and guess what you want. Be as ploite as you are come striaght to the point. I myself and not sure what you are on about after reading your letter.

    1. Hey thanks for the feedback. You seem like someone who has a lot of experience writing to important people. I admit I need a lot of help composing letters in our national language.

I'd appreciate it if you could give me some examples of what I should be doing better & what I should not be doing at all. Or, even better, send me an email with an edited version of my letter like some of my bestest friends have.
      Thanks so much!

    2. I just want to respond to your enquiry about what I am on about.

Basically, I wrote this letter to beg her to, if she sees the need, send me to Timbuktu with a mission to make a difference.

  3. I agree with anonymous. keep it straight and simple. it's a formal letter, and I asked my school clerk to revised the format and content for me before submitting it to JPN.

    1. Yes, I do hope that I have left something there to remind people that they can do anything but only if they want to & are willing to stand up for it.
As for a new person to continue my legacy... I would not want to burden anyone with that. My legacy is one of blood, sweat & tears. I believe anyone who has the same spirit will not need me to guide them. God will guide them according to His will.
Like I said in the letter, my school culture has changed. Perhaps one day, they will remember me fondly. As of right now, I feel that they would be glad to see me go. As the old saying goes, you wont know what you've got until you lose it.

    1. Yes, I agree. If you are not in the post-SPM programmes which has the highest intake, you'll have to compete with plenty of others for the post-degree programmes.
Even if you are applying for subjects that the ministry is short of, you will need to be really outstanding to be selected (esp if you are a non-Malay).

    3. I really hope that this is true because we have been getting too many Semenanjung teachers whose only concern is returning home. Not all of them. There are some who are truly dedicated. But there is enough to really be a pain.

Whatever it is, try your best. A lot can change in 3 years time.
