How UiTM Puncak Alam Ran The Best Webinar Ever

In October last year, my former student from SMK Katibas asked if I could conduct a talk for her class at UiTM Puncak Alam. Although I was rushing to finish two books before the start of the new academic year, I always make an effort to say yes to former students, teachers, or lecturers. Little did I know, I would have the pleasure of presenting at a masterclass in webinar organization. Here's what they did right...

~~~PRE-WEBINAR~~~
1. I was contacted months in advance and was able to comfortably make time.
2. The webinar was postponed to a later date selected at my convenience.
3. The UiTM Puncak Alam students were resourceful & got all the necessary photos and an up to date bio from the internet for their promotional materials.
4. Respectfully worded reminders were sent on WhatsApp prior to the webinar.
5. My refusal to give them a copy of my slides was accepted.
6. Links to the webinar were provided the day before.
~~~DURING~~~
1. After the welcoming speeches, a comedy video relevant to the topic that they produced was played. It really primed the audience for what I was about to deliver.
2. There was even a video introducing me.
3. After my talk, the MC repeated the pertinent points from my talk.
4. The QnA session was facilitated, so only the best questions were used.

~~~POST~~~
1. A video collage of the committee members dancing to a Sarawakian folk song "Puteri Santubong, Puteri Sejinjang" was played. So amazing & thoughtful! A cherry on top of a superbly organized webinar.
2. I wasn't given a certificate that I didn't need. Honestly, I give so many talks that I don't care about certificates. Instead, they gave me a poster that I could use on social media. Talk about understanding the needs of your invited speaker! A first!
I can't say how impressed I am at these future teachers of ED2468B at UiTM Puncak Alam. I wish this was how all webinars are conducted! I am very proud of Lesley, my former student, and very glad to have said yes to this webinar. I believe that they will have a bright future & I hope to collaborate with them in the future.
Thank you, UiTM Puncak Alam, for developing such magnificent leaders!
