My Trip To Australia: Sydney

Now that I'm back in windy Wellington, i hav to sort out some things here, like getting a place to live in, but i somehow got some extra time to write about my Sydney trip!
Therefore, you Sydney guys can stop pestering me now...
=)

---------------------------

The Capital of Australia!Coming from Brisbane, my companions & I knew wad to expect...
WARM WEATHER & GOOD TIMES!!!
We came wif great expectiations & we were in for a treat!
=)

Sydney from the air...

Arent we a good looking & happy bunch?

---------------------------

"My" House
For the 2 weeks I spent in Sydney, I squatted in an empty room in the house of Norzie, Shawn & Seng Chee...
FREE OF CHEARGE!!
The house is situated in a subrub of Sydney, Mansfield, 1 hrs bus ride away from the city central.

This is wad the house looks like...
They got an Xbox360 & Nitendo Wii in the living room!
We had hours of enless fun in there...
AhSeng & I completed "Gears of War" in "Insane" difficulty here...
hehe... we are such gays of war!
=D

We also played Mahjong in the living room...

When it gets too crowded downstairs...
There's a PS2 in ah seng's room!

This is my room...
As you can see, the rooms are spacious & hav an attatched ensuite toilet (not in picture).

Every time we ate in, Norzie & Shiela prepared wonderfully delicious Malaysian meals!

The Sites In Sydney...
Everyday we got out of d hse...
but we need to head out to the bus stop as soon as possible due to the looooooong bus or train rides needed to get to our destinations...

Here is ur regular bus stop filled with posers...

Here are some sites in Sydney that i visited...
Upper Left: Market City
Upper Right: 3 Monkeys Pub
Lower Left: Darling Harbour Overlooking Sydney City
Lower Right: Darling Harbour Overlooking Sydney Opera House

There is a story from Market City...
Market City is a place for ppl to get souvenirs...
it's like an indoor pasar malam...Furthermore, it is also the location of 2 girls ah seng is interested in!
One works at a juice shop... where ah seng visits every week to buy juice!
She is exactly the kinda girl tat ah seng wud like...
She's very attractive but looks very very "young girlish"!
I cant bear to see her in a relationship wif me because i'd feel like im dating my younger sister!

The other works at a DVD shop... where ah seng visits every week to buy pirated DVDs!

She is a better choice in my oppinion coz she's got a hot body & she looks more matured than the former...

He has yet to approach either...

He needs our support!!!
=D

Visited Macquarie University...
Gigantic university in the subrubs but the campus grounds do not offer much eye candy...
Full of asians too btw...
;)

A Sydney must go = Bondi Beach
They say its very comercialised but i dont see any shops on the beach...
It's a very clean beach too!
It's very big & beautiful & we did a fair bit of exploring on the beach & the rocks on the left side of the beach...

A personal Sydney must go = Hillsong Church!!
The church that pioneered the Pentecostal movement & gave us songs like "The Potter's Hand" & "My Best Friend"!
Big big church packed to the brim!
May God's work through this church continue to impact the nations for His name!

---------------------------

Glorious Food!
Sydney is a wonderful place to dine out...
Furthermore, the prices are better than New Zealand!
I'm an Asian food lover & i found that the gargantuan asian population in Sydney has a positive effect on the Asian food quality!

We had some warm & spicy Korean BBQ...

Pancakes...

Lowenbrau German restaurant...
where i hada gigantic platter of meat & sausage and also...
where Shiela won a prize for having the loudest support (obviously from our group) during her spontaneous performance that night!

Tuesday dinners at Heritage Belgian restaurant where their specialty of muscles are half price for men!
Tuesday Nights Only!
YUM!!!

Star City Casino Buffet...
Quantity over quality...
Din really enjoy the food here, but there is a great range for selection...
Everybody was loading on the shrimps!
Crazy! Look at all those shells on the table!
I cudnt take more after my fifth!
=p

We also had some Malaysian food now & then...

Went for seafood platter at the Sydney Fish Market...
Really yummy fishy stuff!

HAPPY NEW YEAR & HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!
On Saturday, 30 Dec, i went to bed early because the next day i needed to wake up early to go to church...
i completely forgot my birthday...
At around 1am, 31 Dec, i woke up to a loud choir singing "Happy Birthday" in my room...
to my horror i was also covered in talcum powder!

Thanks guys for the 2 Undercolours of Bennetton Boxers & d pleasant surprise!
=D

At noon after church,
Shawn & I headed down to the Sydney Opera House to find a good spot to wait for the night's fireworks...

Our location overlooked the Sydney Harbour Bridge or the "Coat Hangar"...

Also, u can see that the place is getting full pretty quick... & its only 3pm!

Our location was on the left wing of the opera house overlooking the Sydney Harbour Bridge...
We had 12hrs to burn so we mucked around....

Our obscenities were numerous...

We also slept on the pavement!!
HOW COOL IS TAT?
=D

Nesa & Shim surprised me wif cakes & sang me a birthday song in public!
Most of the bored crowd joined in the song & clapped at the end!

How awesome was tat?

Like I always said... EVERYONE celebrates my birthday!
Thanks, guys!
=D

We caught sight of Batman!
We thought he came all d way from Gotham to make sure that everything went well...
but this guy is actually a young adult that didnt grow up...
;p

The fireworks were beautiful
but our location put us at a disadvantage in viewing most of the fireworks in Sydney
exept for those that went off on the bridge...

I'd rate the fireworks 3 out of 5.

I met a terribly hot chick that night...
this camera angle does not flatter her...
you gotta meet her in person to see her beauty!
=)

People were dancing on the streets after the fireworks!
wad an awesome atmosphere!

Other Highlights In Sydney
My 2 weeks in Sydney was not an uneventful one!

Wei's Car Broke Down!
Just 1 month before he gets it traded in for a flashy new Honda Civic...
Wei's Volkswagen Golf breaks down...

Wei was being the usual gentleman taking the girls home, after out Tuesday dinner at Heritage..
when his car suddenly stalled as he tried to leave & would start again...

While waiting for the mechanic to arrive, we decided to hav a little party wif juice & m&ms!
We also brought out the tripod & took a picture!
=D

Wei managed to start the vehicle before the mechanic arrives but decides to play safe & wait...
The mechanic found no fault wif the vehicle & Wei was able to use his old faithful until today!
YAY!

One day Shim decided to go for a haircut...
I had ntg to do so i decided to join him...
Soon we were deciding on hair colour & highlights!

I decided to go for warm red highlights
while shim decides to do a dark drown base before his light brown highlights...

He turned out very Hong-Kee & I'm...
ABSOLUTELY CHARMING!
=D

---------------------------

Farewell Dinner & Karaoke!
My farewell had to be ntg but spectacular...
so ah seng took me to a restaurant for dinner & karaoke after tat!
Wad an awesome friend!

We hada steamboat style dinner at a Chinese Hot Pot restaurant...
Yum!
=)

After that, we spent the rest of the night singing away at Viva Karaoke till the wee hours of the morning!

---------------------------

Heavy Hearted Departure
Im really grateful for the new friends that i made & the old friends that i have in Sydney...
They are a special bunch that didnt hesitate to go the extra mile to make my visit a memorable one...
Thanks, you all...

Shawn & ah seng sharing my burden...
They took me to the train station...
We hugged & talked of the future rendevous in NZ...

---------------------------

Many Thanks To SengChee, Shim TetChon, Norzie, Shiela,
Kenrick Wei, Bev, Ben,
Khairil, Julie, Madeline MunYee & AiLing...
